My first experience managing a data center starts in 2004. I was involved from the beginning stage; planning, vendor searching, technology discovering and etc; till the operation of the data center.

During my ‘learning days’, I met outstanding personel who has helped me going through the curves. I’m still connected with some of them, like Bro Harisfazillah but others are gone with the wind.

With number of servers and other networking peripherals in the room, a failure in the cooling department is definitely a nightmare for the technician. The room temperature must be cool enough to cater the growing heats generated from these machines. From my experience, the most ideal room temperature is at 21 Celsius. Too cold, and you’ll find yourself in a underwater cave.

Windows has been dominating our desktop pc for decades now. Some would say it is quiet hard to break their domination.

But having said so, some more advanced users have migrated from Windows based pc to Open Source operating system. I’ve got many friends using open source system now, particularly Linux.

Some users are quiet moderate and more tolerate when dealing with Windows based machine. Some are not that kind. Well it depends on individu of course.

After a major flop in Windows Vista, Microsoft have come up with more realiable and better looking operating system called Windows 7. First time use, emmm kind like ubuntu…and fedora with smooth looking KDE. Well Microsoft has work closely with some of the open source guys these past years, so such result is more than predicted.
