Knowing the facts that in life there’s always ups and downs. Ignoring the facts won’t deny it from happening. If things are not going our way, then we have to accept it. You’re down, yes, it’s normal. You may take 5 minute, or 10 minute to cool of and rethink your next step. We are after all human beings.
But how can you stay motivated? How can you face the world, your friends, your spouse or worst yourself? Negative thoughts and image will start to hunt you. You’ll think that you’re useless, you’re cursed, you’re unlucky, and you don’t deserve to live. Remember that you are what you think. So, why do you think like it? It’s like killing yourself even before you’re being killed!
I want to share with my secret of staying motivated. Myself has so many ups and downs. I’m not perfect. I’m just like you guys where at times things doesn’t go our way. I’ve had some losses in my business, not being able to pay debts, got problems on my own and etc, etc. You see, we can’t stop a bird from flying above our head but we can sure to stop it from building its nest inside our house. Agree?
Now let’s group ourself in two different group, the optimist and the pessimistic.
So, your ability to stay motivated depends upon the three P’s and the I’s. Now let’s get through this. The first P stands for Permanent, and the first I stands for Impermanent. Permanent refers to whether you consider an event a permanent condition or only a temporary occurrence. Therefore it refers to time. The optimist sees good things as always happening again in similar circumstances, and sees bad things as a onetime fluke. The pessimist, on the other hand, sees good things as a onetime fluke and bad things as always recurring.
The second P stands for Personal, and the second I stands for Impersonal. The optimist sees good events as being to their credit and bad things often as somebody else’s fault or its beyond their control. The pessimist sees good things as someone else’s doing and bad things as their fault.
The third P stands for Pervasive, and the third I stands for Isolated. The optimist sees good things as an indication of good things happening all over, and sees bad things as an isolated event. The pessimist sees good things as an isolated event and bad things as an indication that bad things are happening everywhere.
Just be an optimistic whether good or bad things happen to you. optimistic people sees good events as Permanent, Personal and Pervasive. They see bad events as Impermanent, Impersonal and Isolated. Pessimist people have it backward. They see good events as Impermanent, Impersonal and Isolated, and bad events as Permanent, Personal and Pervasive. That’s why we don’t see very many pessimistic people enjoying success.
So, when good things happen, remember PPP and when bad things happen, remember III. Simple? Try it.
