It’s so amazing that sometimes we don’t really know our own potential. It happens to me a lot nowadays. And I’m very happy to say that it’s about time.
Having taken a bold step from being somebody who used to live from paycheck to paycheck and turned myself into an entrepreneur, is not an easy thing to do. I remember the first time I ever reject an offer was in 1997. Back then, I was offered a scholarship by Petronas, a renowned oil company in Malaysia. The reason is simple. There’s a clause in the contract saying that I need to work for them for 6 years. At that time, 6 years were long…at least that’s what I think.
And yes, there are time when I feel regret that I took that decision. Looking at some of my friends who has now successfully climb the corporate ladder in that organization, added more to it. I keep on telling myself that, its not where I want to be. And luckily, my heart agree with it.
Then there’s a second chance that I blew big time. Me and my friend were offered to become agent for a new gold company in Malaysia. At that time, the company were so hardly known. To cut things short, my friend did take the opportunity and now his making a five figure income. He also quit his job and now become a director in that gold company.
Again, a regret and pep talk to myself saves the day.
Believing in oneself is important. I believe I can achieve success. But the road to success has never been easy. Yes, we can struck lucky sometimes, but lucky is not the game here. It has never been about lucky.
It’s knowing one potential and turn it into something great.
There are times when we stumbled into the roadblocks of success. For some, retreat seems the best solution. But for some, it’s just another hiccup on the road to success. We often limit ourself to the things that we already know. That’s not the right thinking attitude. Doing what you know is what we called repetitive action. But having to explore new things and thinking style is about believing your body and mind potential.
Our potential is unlimited. There are those who conquer fear when they meet them face to face. There are others who hurt themselves just to test how far their body can suffer. And there are those who seems helpless but suddenly gain some extra power to keep them alive and survive from a horrific accident.
The inspiring stories from those who have been there is endless. Entrepreneur has never short of such stories either. You can never find a story where somebody create wealth in a day! Life as an entrepreneur is full of ups and downs. It’s like a wheel. A spinning one of course. You can’t be sure how long you’ll be at the top.
My question is, do you know your own potential? Have you search for it? Do you really want to become an employee for the rest of life? Do you think you deserve that paycheck you receive every month? Or you think you should get more? Do you really want to become success? And ultimately rich? Can your choice now brings you to where you want to be?
Don’t get confuse with what you have now with what you really want. Trust me, you can have what you really want as long as your willingness match it.
So, take some time now to discover your own potential. Maybe you need to write it down. It has never been right or wrong. I can’t be the judge. It’s you. Take you step. I know I’ve taken mine.
