Y Combinator – Ideas Pay

I used to pronounced it as Y Communicator. I really don’t where in the heck I I got the idea..and..how wrong it sound (and spell!)…:) Everybody, its Y Combinator.
Now what is Y Combinator?
“Y Combinator is a new kind of venture firm specializing in funding early stage startups. We help startups through what is for many the hardest step, from idea to company.
We invest mostly in software and web services. And because we are ourselves technology people, we prefer groups with a lot of technical depth. We care more about how smart you are than how old you are, and more about the quality of your ideas than whether you have a formal business plan.“ – I quot this from their website, http://ycombinator.com/
The coolest part of this program is the people behind it. Seriously. They are a group of people who are very passionate to help this startup companies, and they are willing to listen and blend ideas in every way just to see it grow.
How does this program works? First they listen to your ideas. Second, they fund you. No more than $20,000.In return, they took a small percentage of the companies, usually 2 – 10%.
Simple and straight to the point.
The main criteria for the applicants is you have to be technical enough to join team. These people are hackers. They play with algorithms and alien tools than I can’t describe in English, not now and not in trillion years! eheheh..
The winter 2010 application is closed though. If you think you fit the bill, wait for your chance. It’ll come…:)
